Professional Violinist
Although trained classically, I am interested in a wide variety of genres. My passion for the violin is partly due to its versatility and inclusion in so many musical settings. I love to bring live music to those who may be unable to attend concerts, films or shows. Music has the unique ability to reach us even when thoughts and words cease to come easily, raising the spirits and bringing optimism to all who hear it.
Repertoire
Repertoire includes a wide variety of styles, everything from light Classical salon pieces, often familiar, by Dvorak, Elgar, Fauré, Massenet, Shostakovich, to slightly longer sonata and concerto movements, a variety of folk music, film music (James Bond, Ladies in Lavender); also music from the Shows (West Side Story, Lloyd Weber & other Broadway hits) and pop and rock classics (Beatles, Queen). And of course, I have some Christmas favourites for that special time of year. I often add new items, and if you let me know in advance, I will always do my best to meet special requests.
Practicalities
I play an acoustic violin (not amplified). For care homes, and other performances in small to medium-sized rooms, I play with backing from a small speaker. For larger venues I still play with an unamplified violin, but with backing through a more powerful amp. I will bring all the equipment I need. I am always happy to discuss your particular requirements in order to adapt to your setting.
Safeguarding
I am member of the Independent Society of Musicians with whom I have public liability insurance, and I also have verifiable enhanced DBS.
