Teaching

Professional Violin Teacher

Enjoy Learning

Learn in a non-judgemental environment with a sympathetic, pupil-centred approach. Instead of anxiety to “please the teacher”, why not have the opportunity to discuss every aspect of your playing from your overall hopes and aspirations to the shorter term goals you might select to help your progress, and how to achieve those.

Learn Effective Ways to Practise

Learn practice techniques and tricks to speed your progress, increasing your motivation and self-belief. Learn how to ensure the effort you are prepared to put into your playing produces real results.

Improve your Tone

Play with a more beautiful sound, through a proper understanding of bow control. Find a greater ability to vary the sound, and achieve better definition and clarity in your playing.

Understand Intonation

Play better in tune through a proper understanding of how key works for the violin. Learn ways to train the left hand effectively so that playing in tune is no longer left to chance.

Freedom and Ease

Address often overlooked issues of technique, including chin rest selection and shoulder rest issues. For growing children, receive expert advice on the correct size of violin, and on technical issues as the young violinist grows.

Build your Confidence

Enjoy your performances more and lessen your performance nerves. Be noticed more as a stronger player in ensembles, opening up options to be selected for the playing roles you desire.

Safeguarding

I am member of the Independent Society of Musicians with whom I have public liability insurance, and I also have verifiable enhanced DBS.
